Interviews To apply for this course, please email admissions@ccpe.org.uk to arrange an appointment for an interview. The interview lasts approximately 50 minutes and there is a fee of £60 (cash or cheque only) which is paid to the interviewer.
Please bring a current CV to support your application and a copy of your counselling or psychotherapy qualifications.
*this does not include the costs of books, travel, individual therapy and private supervision taken in addition to supervision offered by the course.

CCPE are offering a Diploma in Supervision from a Transpersonal Perspective consisting of two parts of which part I is compulsory and leads to the award of Diploma in Adult Supervision, and part II which is optional (at an additional cost) and may lead to the Diploma in Supervision of Child Psychotherapists and Counsellors. This diploma cannot be undertaken unless you have completed or are in the process of completing the Diploma in Adult Supervision or its equivalent.

Part II – Diploma in Supervision of Child Psychotherapists and Counsellors

Introduction

This course is a post-Diploma training for the position of Child and Adolescent Supervisor, as suggested by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and may lead to registration as a UKCP Child and Adolescent Supervisor. The training ensures best practice for the supervision of those therapists working with children and young people. A separate diploma certificate will be issued on completion of this course and course requirements.

Aims

To enable participants to gain a sound knowledge of the theory and practice of supervision from a transpersonal integrative perspective such that they are able to supervise trainees and practising Child and Adolescent psychotherapists either individually or in groups.

Entry requirements

This post-Diploma training is for UKCP Registered Child Psychotherapists or equivalent who wish to train as supervisors. This diploma cannot be undertaken unless you have completed or are in the process of completing the CCPE Diploma in Supervision of Adult Psychotherapy (CCPE Diploma in Adult Supervision).

    • Completion of a Child Psychotherapy Training
  • Completion of or concurrent participation in the CCPE Diploma in Adult Supervision

Course design

Part A: Theory

    • Key differences in supervising psychotherapists working with children and adolescents lecture
  • Completion of an online/taught Safeguarding Children Level 3 training course (a current certificate of attendance/completion must be provided)

Part B: Practicum

The practicum provides the opportunity to consolidate the theoretical underpinnings of a transpersonal/integrative approach to supervising child and adolescent psychotherapy.

    • Live supervision practice
  • 20 hours minimum of 1:1 supervision of therapists working with children and adolescents

Requirements for the award of the Diploma in Supervision of Child Psychotherapists and Counsellors

To be awarded the Diploma in Supervision of Child Psychotherapists and Counsellors the following are required in addition to the CCPE Diploma in Adult Supervision.

Assessment for the award of Diploma in Supervision of Child Psychotherapists and Counsellors will be on a formative and summative basis.

Formative assessment:

Feedback written and verbal from your course tutor and peers on your live supervision

Summative assessment:

Essay on supervision of children and adolescents (1000 words)

Additional requirements:

  • Report from your personal RTS confirming competency to practise as a supervisor of child psychotherapy
  • 100% attendance of course lecture/live supervision sessions
  • 20 hours minimum of 1:1 supervision of therapists working with children and adolescents and confirmation of hours by supervisor
  • Completion of a Safeguarding training Level 3 course
  • Knowledge of the DSM-5 (Participants who have no previous training in mental health can attend the CCPE DSM-5 training at their own cost.)
