This generic training is designed to offer an integrated approach to the supervision of psychotherapeutic work.

Aims

  • To enable participants to gain a sound knowledge of the theory and practice of supervision from a transpersonal integrative perspective such that they are able to supervise trainees and practising professionals either individually or in groups.
  • To enable participants to enhance their own psychotherapeutic work with clients by developing a reflective internal supervisor.
  • To facilitate a deeper inquiry into the participants’ own spiritual and personal unfoldment and enhance their knowledge of the transpersonal integrative perspective.

Entry requirements

  • Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy or equivalent
  • Three years clinical experience or 600 clinical hours post qualification
  • All candidates must have either UKCP, BACP or BPC accreditation
  • Evidence of good professional standing and further training beyond diploma level
  • Interest in the transpersonal perspective
  • All candidates must be currently practising psychotherapy and be in supervision with a supervisor working from the transpersonal perspective.

Course design

The course curriculum has been set out in four modules. Course modules will be delivered in an integrated manner. There are 30 morning sessions of two and a half hours which will be both theoretical and practical.  There are four training weekends, three of which focus on the process of supervision of both individuals and groups, and one which focus on the transpersonal perspective.  Participants will be encouraged throughout the training to develop their connection to their transpersonal centre to bring presence and awareness of a more subtle dimension to their roles as psychotherapist and supervisor.

Supervision of group supervision of adults and adolescents from age sixteen and upwards takes place immediately after the morning training session. Case discussions from a transpersonal and integrative perspective form an integral part of the training. For those who wish to train in supervision of therapeutic work with children up to the age of 16 an optional add-on module is available. Please see Part II - Diploma in Supervision of Child Psychotherapists and Counsellors.
