DRI & Research

The Dream Research Institute

(DRI) is for those who ponder the nature of reality. Are we awake when we dream? Is waking life the dream? What purpose do dreams have? Do we dream or are we dreamed?

The DRI is part of the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education Trust (CCPE), located at Beauchamp Lodge, 2 Warwick Crescent in Central London. The DRI explores the relationship of dreams and wellbeing from the spiritual perspective, offering public events and a unique archive, as well as teaching videos and educational courses.

The CCPE Charitable Trust

The DRI was founded in 2012 by Dr Nigel Hamilton and Melinda Powell née Ziemer under the auspices of the CCPE, the foremost transpersonal training centre in the United Kingdom and one of the few independent charitable trusts in the world funding academic research into dreams and mental health from the spiritual perspective. More about the DRI.

DRI Research

The DRI promotes research into the relationship of dreams to physical, psychological and spiritual wellbeing. Currently, the DRI is overseeing an NHS-approved study. This research examines how the exploration of dreams can support the emotional wellbeing of patients suffering from autoimmune disease. More about our Dreaming-autoimmunity Project

The DRI is also involved in collecting data for two large-scale studies on:

  1. The relationship of dreams to wellbeing in therapeutic practice
  2. Dream states, spiritual experience and mental health

In conjunction with the Alister Hardy Religious Experience Research Centre (RERC), the DRI is currently collecting accounts of people’s spiritual or religious experiences in dreams. If you have ever had a spiritual or religious experience in a dream, and are 18 years or older, you are invited to take part in our ‘Dream States, Spirituality and Wellbeing’ research project. Dream Research Institute Archive

The DRI Archive has an extensive literature on dreams from the transpersonal perspective. The archive also features instructional videos, offering a wide selection of dream contents together with therapeutic interventions.

The DRI Archive has been established to provide insight, information, and instruction to all who seek to understand dreams and their role in wellbeing. Numerous readers have registered for the site, including academics, scientists, students, health professionals and members of the general public.
